ReStore Assistant Manager


Job Title:  Topeka Habitat for Humanity ReStore Assistant Manager, Reports to the ReStore Manager, Full-time, Tuesday-Saturday Schedule.


Summary:  The ReStore is a division of Topeka Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore’s mission is to generate revenue through the sale of donated building materials and household items to support the operating budget of Topeka Habitat for Humanity.   Through its efforts, the ReStore facilitates recycling, minimizes landfill waste, provides low-cost home improvement items, and increases Habitat’s visibility in our community.


The ReStore Assistant Manager is responsible for aiding in the management of the Store’s day-to-day operations, ensuring the continuation of donated goods and services for merchandising, and for representing the ReStore at public and community events.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high levels of customer and donor services

  • Manage and lead staff and volunteers

  • Ensure proper scheduling of staff and volunteers to ensure that all departments are adequately staffed

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment

  • Aid in proper maintenance of facility, equipment and vehicles

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and comply with accident procedures

  • Manage donation calendar and pick-up routes

  • Facilitate a positive, team-oriented environment in which all staff and volunteers are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential

  • Implement and monitor systems for daily cash transactions and deposits

  • Assist in marketing and merchandising strategies for the ReStore, which is integrated with the overall Topeka Habitat brand 

  • Participate in the development and implementation of short and long-term strategies, goals and objectives

  • Develop relationships with existing and potential donors to increase quality and quantity of donations in order to maintain full inventory.

  • Assist with budget management and analytics



Required Skills / Experience / Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive a box truck and forklift

  • Ability to lead and manage staff and volunteers in a positive manner

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email and point-of-sale systems

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and unexpected shifts in priorities

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.  Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling and reaching

  • Prior experience in retail management, business management, social service, or customer service preferred

  • Ability to pass a background check.

  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Job Classification: Full-time Exempt


Compensations: $33,000-$37,000 Annually (based on qualifications and experience)
